The first edition of ORTA is called Aralash, which means “mix” in Kyrgyz and is also the name of a popular Central Asian fizzy drink. This episode shakes things up with an eclectic outburst of tunes from Tajikistan’s Pamir Mountains, Kyrgyzstan’s majestic Lake Ysyk-Köl and Kazakhstan’s Kyzylkum Desert. From time to time, the musical journey will also meander through Afghanistan, Georgia and Turkey––all while jumping between decades and genres.
