The guest on Episode 45 of Oh No Noh Radioh is Anaïs Tuerlinckx. Anaïs Tuerlinckx is a pianist, composer, and sound artist based in Brussels. She moved to Berlin in 2008 and is active in both the local and international improvised music scenes. Her playing is characterized by a sound that is at once harsh and loud, yet also elegiac, airy, and expansive.
She performs using a prepared piano, a “String Box” built specifically for her, and turntables. For the music in this episode, we experimented with combining various musical textures—in the form of samples and loops—and exploring the possibilities of combining them at different pitches and speeds.
