With the tremendous success of disco music at the end of the 1970s, the musical preferences of listeners in this country also changed. Disco music reflected freedom, exuberance and a new urban attitude to life, which was particularly popular with younger people. As Schlager had always aimed to pick up on popular music trends and make them suitable for the masses, it quickly adapted so as not to lose the interest of this new audience. In addition to some “Deutsche Originalaufnahmen”, new hits were also created that still had typical Schlager melodies and lyrics, but showed a clear disco influence in the rhythm and arrangement.
