Persona.
Like few other games, the Persona video game series captivates with its style. Its newer installments also feature graphics with even a user interface that has been thought out down to the last detail, but the entire series is accompanied by composer Shoji Meguro. This consistent personnel not only gives the entire series recognition value. Meguro also gives each game a distinct sound that contributes greatly to the setting, the game’s place in time, and its overall feel.
Part 3 features Japanese rap, rock, and crossover. Part 4 is heavily inspired by disco. And Part 5 is a dynamic mix of energetic jazz funk and chill lo-fi beats.
In each part of the Japanese role-playing game series, players take on the role of a group of teenagers at a Japanese high school who discover their “superpowers” in the form of dormant “personas” and a parallel world in which – unsurprisingly – the ultimate goal is to prevent it from spilling over into the real world and to save the real world. Classic coming-of-age action.
Developer Atlus revises the games over time and re-releases them. In addition to new story content, there are always expanded and remixed versions of the soundtrack.
