The nineties – also known as the “baseball bat years” – are a time marked by violent attacks and the public appearance of neo-Nazi groups, especially in eastern Germany.
In this episode, we look back and talk to Ariane and Vince, who grew up as non-right-wing youths in Leipzig-Grünau, the Leipzig hotspot of the neo-Nazi scene. In addition, Fania reports on her research on “secondary victimization” and the danger posed by neo-Nazis in the Leipzig area.
***Editorial note: In this episode, female Nazis with skinhead haircuts are referred to and explained as “Reenies”. We want to add afterwards that not all Reenies are right-wing, but skinhead girls of any political direction partly call themselves Reenies.***
