Isabel Pereira (SON OBJET) lives in Porto since 2015, when she started her Graphic Design degree at the Fine Arts College. Over the years, she has expanded her artistic practice to include music, theater, and performance, developing personal projects alongside exhibitions and author’s books featured in the Archivo Pittoresco appropriation and archive project. She is also part of the creative direction team at a Porto-based amateur theater association.
A natural collector of many things, she began exploring DJing by focusing on uncovering and archiving strange, forgotten sounds from old cassettes she finds. She deconstructs and reshapes them — cutting, layering, and fusing them with her own exploratory, yet simple, synth work — building a constantly evolving archive of warped, bizarre and cosmic textures. These are then combined with unconventional contemporary compositions, crafting a narrative always rooted in psychedelia, spoken word, and sound collage.
She’s currently organizing with friends a small DIY gathering nearby Porto, Elliptica, a 24h event with more than 20 artists involved each time, DJ sets, Live acts and Art Installations.
Played in some clubs and bars in Porto (Passos Manuel, Café Au Lait, Maus Hábitos, Torto, Fiasco), other cultural institutions in Coimbra (Casa das Artes Bissaya Barreto) and Lisbon (Galeria Zé dos Bois, Cosmos, Desterro).
Outside Portugal, also played in Spettro, Brescia and Sameheads, Berlin.
Anyway, she finds her sweet spot in gatherings and festivals surrounded by nature and open dance floors as she did before at Elliptica (Portugal), Illusio (France) and Braille Satellite (Lithuania).
Other than that, she rather play for her cats in her groovie apartment.
