Talk with Dona Abboud: On Typography as a Vehicle of a (Post-)Migrant Society

Dona Abboud 

(* 1982 in Jeddah) is a Syrian graphic artist, book designer and visual artist. She studied graphic design and visual communication at the Faculty of Fine Arts at Damascus University. From 2008, she studied graphic and book design at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst in Leipzig. After graduating in “Typography & Book Design” with Prof. Günter Karl Bose, the Institute of Book Art in Leipzig published her book Out of Syria, Inside Facebook, which was awarded the Stiftung Buchkunst’s Young Book Design Award in 2017. Dona Abboud has collaborated on exhibitions, workshops, and art education projects with the Museum der bildenden Künste Leipzig, the Galerie für Zeitgenössische Kunst Leipzig, the Galerie für Fotografie in Hannover, and the Museum für Photographie Braunschweig, among others.
