Radio Workshop: Take Over the Mic!

You’ve wanted to record a podcast for a long time or find people to research certain topics together? You finally want to play your own music on the radio? You write lyrics and want a platform to finally share them with other people?  There are topics that are close to your heart and you want to discuss them on the radio? Then let’s do it!

We are looking for people aged 15 and over who want to do radio with us. We, that’s Anna, Karlotta and Wiebke, will support you in a relaxed atmosphere to realise your ideas or let them come to life. We will also teach you the technical basics of radio making, get to know different broadcast formats, from DJ sets to radio plays, try out sound and editing programmes and learn speech, moderation and interview techniques, as well as dramaturgy and editorial work.

Together we want to create a space where everyone can feel comfortable, where you can realise your ideas, or get rid of all your questions about microphones and audio technology, and where you can work journalistically or experimentally. At the end of the workshop we will go on air together to show your projects on Sphere Radio. Anyone you want to share this with can also be invited directly to our radio container, where we will listen, host and create the show together!

About us: Sphere Radio e.V. is a non-commercial, interdisciplinary radio platform from the east of Leipzig. During the whole workshop you will be supported by:

Karlotta Sperling (media artist and Sphere Radio container responsible)

Wiebke Stark (budding journalist, student of social and cultural anthropology)

Anna Höllmüller (applied theatre, performance artist)

What you should bring with you:

  • The desire to work creatively in the audio field and ideally already your own ideas!
  • Time from 17.10. – 21.10. 2022, 10am -4pm.
  • If you want to work with your own equipment, bring your own laptop, but this is not a must, there will be enough equipment available.

You can ask questions and register at: workshop@sphere-radio.net. Please let us know in the registration form if you have any previous experience and what you expect from the workshop.
