Isabel Pereira has worked and lived in Porto since 2015, the year she started her degree in Graphic Design at Fine Arts College. Over time, she has explored other areas of artistic expression such as music, theater and performance, developing her personal projects in parallel with some exhibitions and author’s books included in the “Archivo Pittoresco“ appropriation and archive project.
A collector by nature, she began experimenting what DJing could be like in 2018, focusing in collecting hidden and forgotten sounds recorded in cassettes over time. The approach to Djing goes from the selection of bizarre, experimental and cosmic sonorities from the DIY cassette culture movement, to combining them with less conventional current compositions.
She’s currently organizing a small DIY gathering nearby Porto, ELLIPTICA, a 24h event with more than 20 artists involved each time, DJ sets, Live acts and Art Installations.
Played in some clubs in Porto (Passos Manuel, Café Au Lait, Maus Hábitos), other cultural institutions in Coimbra (Casa das Artes Bissaya Barreto) and Lisbon (Galeria Zé dos Bois and Cosmos) and in Brescia, Italy (Spettro).
Anyway, she finds her sweet spot in gatherings and festivals surrounded by nature and open dance floors as she did before at Elliptica (Portugal), Illusio (France) and Braille Satellite (Lithuania).
Other than that, she rather play for her cats in her groovie apartment.
