What faces do you see when you think about the climate movement?
Instinctively we immediately think of two FLINTA: Greta Thunberg and Luisa Neubauer. Two very young women, who accomplished a lot in the climate movement. There even was a Greta-Effect in 2018. Whether it ist Fridays For Future, Letzte Generation or Extinction Rebellion: Many FLINTA are seen as the faces of each movement.
In our latest episode we discuss why FLINTAs are so prominent in climate activism. Additionally we need to talk about how white and academic the climate movement is pictured in the media. Therefore, Nasti introduces several BIPOC activists from the Global South who fight for climate justice and who don’t share the same spotlight as Greta Thunberg and Luisa Neubauer do.
