025 Women Seeking Refuge – with Luise

People seeking refuge have to swap their homes for a life in difficult, often inhumane, circumstances. There are many reasons why it might be too difficult or dangerous for people to stay in their own countries: war, persecution, violence, hunger, extreme poverty, because of their sexual or gender orientation, or from the consequences of climate change or other natural disasters.

Women are especially vulnerbale: They have hardly any access to medical care and have to take care of their children. Many experience sexualised violence.

The non-profit organisation ROSA – Rolling Safepace has devoted their work to gender-sensitive humanitarian aid in Greek refuge camps. ROSA crew members have transformed a truck into a safe space for women and children in these camps. In this episode ROSA-crew member Luise tells us about her work and experiences  in Greece, how ROSA started and what she has learned from her time there.
