Hot or Iced Chocolate – ein Drink für jede Wetterlage – a drink for seasonal change

Make yourself a chocolatey drink and recharge your energies. Climate change is still real and urgent and weather is in chancing moods. So, you choose: Is it cold enough forthe real snuggle hot chocolate with chili and cinnamon seasoning? Or are you still feeling the late late summer vibe and need a cool-drink.

HOT chocolate
1 ounce unsweetened chocolate
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2/3 cup boiling water
ground chilies / pepper / cinnamon to taste
Grate the unsweetened chocolate into a bowl and cover it with a little of the boiling water. Mash the mixture into a paste. Add the rest of the water and vanilla and beat with an electric mixer until frothy. Add chilies, pepper and/or cinnamon to liven up the drink.
ICED chocolate
180ml milk
1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
115g bittersweet or semisweet chocolate, chopped
ice cubes
2 to 3 scoops chocolate ice cream
optional: 1 to 2 tablespoons espresso (cooled) or liqueur to taste
In a small saucepan, heat two-thirds of the milk with cocoa powder, just until it begins to boil. Remove from heat and drop in the chocolate, stirring until the chocolates are melted and smooth. Let mixture cool to room temperature.
Using a blender, mix the chocolate mixture and the rest of the milk with the ice cubes and ice cream until completely smooth.
