It has been month already since the last D.G.A show and it feels good to be back! Kicking off my mix with Winyo Nungu, a lovely Amapiano twist by amazing Kenyan producer & DJ Coco Em featuring bad ass vocals from Kenyan Mc Sharon Woud Baba. I enjoyed putting together some of my favourite Amapiano tunes from South, East and West Africa new and old. I also couldn’t resist playing some of my favourite remixes & tunes from the likes of Dj Satellite, Lua Preta, Nkom Bivoue, Sizeless and more.
Talented Producer, Dj, friend & neighbour in Cologne Cajoux 🙂 is this month’s guest artist and she offers an excellent 30 mins guest mix!
Cajoux (she/they), is Mozambican, German DJ and producer, drawing from her vast cultural heritage, bringing a diverse palette of music including hidden gems out of Africa and its diaspora. Since coming onto the Cape Town scene in late 2019 she quickly established herself, and has played with Floyd Lavine and DJ Simbad.
Her sets of syncopated and polyrhythmic beats, spanning Kuduro, Baile Funk and Afro House, are designed to get you grooving and take you on an adventure you never knew you needed. Her musical practice is about creating avenues for connection, self-discovery and collective healing. First and foremost she wants to create opportunities for fun and joy! , she’s quickly made a name for herself, having already played with Floyd Lavine, and other local favourites. She’s also been featured on DJ Simbad’s Worldwide FM Show.
