This episode of Dope Gal Africa is unique and close to my heart because I recorded it in a heavenly garden in Kampala, with an extra special friend producer & DJ Nsasi. In a sense, it was like a reunion situation slash catch-up conversation considering we hadn’t seen each other since the start of the pandemic and a leg & rule breaking back to back session all in one. It was the perfect evening to be honest.
Nsasi is a rising star Dj & Producer, whose sound is described as a diverse journey of rhythms, and whose sets are truly unique each time they takes over the dance floor.
Very much inspired by culture, tradition, and a sense humor, they integrate their vivid personality into all his sets which rock Afro-inspired Bass, Gqom, Disco-Techno, Acid, House and Tribal with a dark edge.
Their production craft comes from their dj’ing experience as they make sounds „experimentally layered to create a groove experience matching your most recent acid experience.“ This mix truly delivers and takes you on an amazing trip from beginning to end!
In this episode, we dj Back to back while taking breaks to chat about Nsasi’s artistry, Kampala’s underground & Queer scene and the ANTI-MASS collective _an initiative pioneered by Authentically plastic_ which is set on reclaiming spaces for underepresented femme and Queer folk in Kampala.
We had fun breaking rules and playing diverse sounds from back-breaking dance music to intellectual trance and metal sounds from All over the Globe and a few of our own productions as well as upcoming releases. We had a lot of fun, I hope y’all enjoy listening!
