Had so much fun recording this mix. Every single track was a jump back in the past, from my teenage years up to my time in England. I could tell you a personal story to each one of them, as they all touch my heart in different ways. They make me smile as much as they bring back tears, goosebumps and butterflies in my stomach. This mix takes me back to after school hangouts, dirty concert halls, summer festivals while mum thought I was having a sleepover and back to Italian and English beaches, where dreams came true. I know some of these tracks might be obvious to any Indie head (I literally forced myself not to include Sweet Disposition by the Temper Trap, which is THE track for me), but maybe there are one or two hidden gems some of you didn’t know yet :). Being so immersed in electronic music, I found myself neglecting the world of “handmade” Indie/Rock music. That’s why for me this mix is about bringing back those tunes we used to dance to with our friends and lovers, those tunes we couldn’t wait to hear at the next summer festivals. This is a tiny collection of tunes that changed my life forever 🙂
I know what it’s like and how tough it is to start from scratch as a female* in the industry and I ofc keep experiencing it here and there. So glad to see more and more women go for it and smash it, I can tell it’s been making a difference. As long as you truly believe in the music you play, what you do will be undeniable. That is what always keeps me going, even when I feel treated differently or unfairly by people who simply don’t get it. However, those kinda gate-keeping weirdos will never win, so just keep going and show ‚em sis <3
