The British Invasion did not stop at German Schlager. Even though beat music, which was considered loud and rebellious, at first glance had little in common with the well-behaved Schlager scene, some record companies tried to exploit the enormous success of international beat bands for their own commercial interests. At the end of the 1960s, attractive young female Schlager singers were hired to record new hits with cheeky lyrics and lots of Anglicisms, which were primarily intended to attract a young audience.
