This weeks episode is a tour through both past and present indigenous dance movements in Cabo Verde, a Lusophone country off the Atlantic coast of Africa. Specifically covering Funana and Batuko, the mix starts slow but sure enough gets into the fast, pulsing rhythms that reverberate throughout this island. These selections come from the 80s and into the present and gives maybe the most convincing example of the use of the accordion as a true rave instrument. Enjoy!
