This episode will be about the plant in the living space. Based on our research on the ‘Schöner Wohnen’ from 1960 to 1990, we try to describe the observations made while leafing through the magazine, to collect pictures and to trace back the occurrence of plants in the home. Be it the obligatory bouquet of cut flowers, the green plant in various sizes and shapes, expansive arrangements of dried flowers or the glimpse from the in- to the outside: We examine the display strategies and image compositions presented in the magazine and look through several decades of printed pages, whereby we discuss topics such as health, hygiene and (self-)control. With these observations in mind, we will look at a current Scandi-Style catalog towards the end of the program, talking about current trends of (design) plants and/as interior.
