Our latest Island Time present comes via London, England-based digger BYO Boogie. A beautiful, funky hour set of all steel drum music. It’s getting cold over here in Philly but this mix keeps the spirit of the sun alive for us. Here’s his words on the mix:
“I had the idea for a steel drum mix after hearing the track “Memphis Underground” by the Modern Sound Quintet. I loved the danceable groove and an instrument that I didn’t hear in many DJ sets, but I knew there had to be some more funky stuff waiting to be found.
My digging process involved lots of trawling through Discogs and Youtube, as well as visits to London record shops Eidica Records, Yo-yo Records and Hidden Sounds. I hope you enjoy the grooves!”
