Malo Moray’s ATOLLS

Malo Moray broadcasts selected pieces from his upcoming album ATOLLS (19.09.2023) for four weeks.

With their new album ATOLLS Malo Moray + His Inflatable Knee release an album for fans of Brian Eno, Sunn O))), Swans, Soundwalk Collective and all adventurous music that fits no box. ATOLLS are large rings of islands connected underwater enveloping a fruitful, flourishing lagoon. For three years Malo Moray and his collective improvised together over space and time connected invisibly by Music, capturing an astonishing state of flow and connection – atolls in Music. ATOLLS proves beautifully that connection and flow are nothing like physical situations, but hidden energetic processes that happen every time people open their hearts and minds to resonate with each other. Grammy winner Marc Urselli (Lou Reed, Laurie Anderson) produced three years of digitally mediated intimate sessions into a dazzlingly noisy cosmos between ambient, krautrock, neo-classical and experimental jazz.

With their newly released album ATOLLS (releasing 19.09.23) Malo Moray & His Inflatable Knee show that flow is not a physical situation, but a spiritual and energetic state of mind. Leipzig based composer, double bassist and improviser Malo Moray assembled his Inflatable Knee for improvisations into various trios to sextets that never met in physical space. All pieces were recorded layer by layer one after the other – each musician alone – always recording the first impulse in the encounter with the Music. One can feel how the musicians shed any bias, any material ballast in this process. Malo Moray & His Inflatable Knee demonstrate vividly how Music makes human beings resonate over space and time. They play intensely and completely liberated.
